Liverpool centre-half and captain Virgil van Dijk believes the Reds need to play with more consistency if they are to succeed in the 2024-25 season.
“I think it was very clear after the Wolves game, we had a meeting and in my opinion after the game I think we need to find a way to control the game better, a way to not let the opponent back into the game and we are working on that,” the 33-year-old defender said.
“We are still learning how to manage the game with experience and trying to deal with difficult situations that arise during the game. The game against Wolves was a good example of how we were not in control of the game. I hope we can learn from it and do better, otherwise it could be a very difficult season.”
“The game against Wolves when you’re 1-0 up and I don’t think you have to play the hardest ball and end up losing the ball because it gives the opponent a chance, it gives them momentum, http://ufabet999.app especially when they’re playing at home.”
“It’s about managing the game and deciding when to make a killer pass, when to keep possession to make the opposition chase more, when to frustrate them more. It’s a balance in the game, but we have to do it and we’ll try to improve it.”
“I was one of the people who was not happy after the game because I thought we could have done a lot better. It shouldn’t have been this difficult. Of course we will have a lot more of these this year. If we want to achieve things this season, we have to do better, and this game is an example.”
