Aston Villa are set to reward in-form youngster Morgan Rogers with a new contract after impressing since joining the club around a year ago.
The 22-year-old joined the Blues for around £15million in the January transfer window and has impressed, playing a key role in Unai Emery’s build-up to the team, with the board set to agree a pay rise on his current deal, which has five years remaining.
Rogers was called up to Lee Carsley’s final squad – after Emery pushed his claims earlier this season – and made two substitute appearances.
Villa have been offering improved terms to core team members, with Emi Martinez accepting an improved deal before the start of the season.
This is the latest in a concerted effort by the club to protect its leading talents as Emery seeks to nurture the talents that secured Villa’s first qualification in the Champions League.
Prior to making his England bow during the international break, Rogers paid tribute to Emery and thanked the Villa manager for putting his faith in him.
